Dulux Terrace White: A Soft, Cool Grey with Blue Undertone for Modern Interiors
Hello everyone, and welcome to Interiors by Style. My name is Bozica — I’m a qualified interior designer and colour specialist, and in today’s video Vlog, we’re reviewing one of Dulux’s most beautiful soft neutrals: Terrace White.
This is a colour I’ve worked with many times, especially during the grey trend, but even now — as we move into warmer tones — this colour still holds its place because it’s just so timeless, versatile, and calming.
What Undertone Does Terrace White Have?
When you compare Dulux Terrace White with Vivid White (pure white), you’ll notice the blue undertone coming through. It’s soft, subtle, and cool — perfect for modern, Hamptons, coastal, or contemporary homes.
This colour belongs in the grey category but sits on the lighter end, making it ideal if you want that fresh, clean feelwithout going full white.
LRV (Light Reflectance Value): 72
Terrace White has an LRV of 72, meaning it reflects a lot of light and can be used on all walls in open-plan living. It’s not a feature wall colour — it’s a full-space colour that gives you that beautiful, soft backdrop without overwhelming your space.
Where Does Terrace White Work Best?
✅ Perfect for:
Open-plan living rooms
Hallways and entryways
Dining areas
Modern bedrooms
Contemporary kitchens
✅ Orientation Compatibility:
Works in south, west, and east-facing rooms
In north-facing rooms, it won’t brighten the space much, so add artificial lighting to balance it out
Which Whites Work Best with Terrace White?
Because of its cool blue undertone, pair it with other cool whites like:
Lexicon Quarter
Lexicon Half
Dulux Vivid White (for contrast with no undertone)
Use these for:
Skirtings
Architraves
Ceilings
Doors
This keeps the undertones consistent and gives your space a clean, cohesive feel.
Build a Colour Scheme Around Terrace White
You can build a monochromatic or complementary palette with this colour:
🔹 Monochromatic Scheme:
Madigan – A deeper grey with a blue undertone for feature walls, living rooms, or accents
🔹 Add a Pop of Colour:
Deep green – For a natural, calming contrast
Burgundy or plum – For warmth and elegance
Navy or denim blue – For a tonal flow
You can introduce these colours through cushions, rugs, artwork, curtains, or even upholstery.
What Flooring Works Best?
Terrace White works beautifully with:
Neutral or grey-washed oak floors
Natural light timber
Concrete or light grey tiles
Grey carpets with a blue or neutral base
🚫 Avoid pairing it with:
Orange-toned timber
Yellow-based beiges
Cream tiles with warm undertones
Can You Use Terrace White Outside?
✅ Yes — but with the right fixed elements.
Terrace White works really well if:
You have white or black windows
You’re rendering the entire exterior
You pair it with white fascia, gutters, and downpipes
🚫 Avoid pairing it with:
Cream or warm-coloured windows
Red or orange-toned bricks
Too many contrasting exterior colours
Terrace White will appear 2–3 shades lighter outside, so it will look like a very soft, clean white with a hint of grey/blue. Just test it before you commit!
Final Thoughts
Terrace White is one of those soft neutrals that’s here to stay. It gives you versatility, depth, and a calming energy. Whether you want a clean open-plan look, a moody tonal space, or something light and fresh — this colour can deliver.
Just remember:
Test it next to your fixed elements
Pair it with cool whites
Always consider your room’s orientation and lighting
